Shane Fitzgerald is a Soil Scientist and Director of Agronomy at Total Grower Services. He specialises in soil and plant health bringing vast experience to growers in achieving productivity gains.
His keen interest in agriculture started growing up on a crop farm in the Lockyer Valley, which had disease problems. After years of using ineffective fungicides, Shane became increasing interested in soil chemistry and finding new solutions for improving soil performance and managing plant disease.
Shane studied a Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree at UQ St Lucia and as a researcher he has undertaken numerous projects and scientific trials in biological farming techniques. In 2003 he published a scientific paper in the Australian Journal of Experimental Agriculture, outlining nutrition/disease relationships. This research has been fundamental in treatment approaches and in achieving outstanding crop health and returns for growers.
Shane is founder of Total Grower Services, and works with large-scale growers across diverse regions and crops throughout the east coast of Australia.
His work started in the banana industry in north Queensland and then rapidly grew as he discovered new scientific solutions for growers across diverse crops.
His research and experience led to the development of the TGS Bio-Mineral Program. An advanced biological and mineral balancing program that is bringing significant gains to some of Australia’s largest producers.
Shane works with producers in highly productive partnership - consulting directly with growers, overseeing agronomy decisions for large scale farms or in an overall advisory role to on-farm internal agronomists to assist with nutritional planning and overall productivity approaches.
Shane is dedicated to integrated solutions and sourcing the best methodology and inputs for growers for best practice solutions for quality and profitable production at the same time as sustainable outcomes.
