Description

During the composting process CompoStar (L) enhances the microbes that will quickly change the ammoniacal nitrogen into organic forms. Thus keeping the nitrogen loss to a minimum, releasing phosphorous and creating quality humic fractions.

CompoStar (L) conserves and fixes nitrogen in the composting process, releasing phosphorus, and creating quality humic fractions.

  • The major part of nitrogen produced in the compost will be due to the balanced decomposition of the organic wastes. In addition, therewill be some nitrogen fixation during the process supported by CompoStar (L) materials.
  • Efficient degradation of proteins during catabolism into polypeptides, peptides and amino acids. Nutrient elements will be bound by the amino acids and are thus made more available.
  • During the composting process CompoStar (L) enhances the microbes that will quickly change the ammoniacal nitrogen into organic forms. Thus keeping the nitrogen loss to a minimum.
  • During the ripening of the compost, the formation of humus takes place and the content of humic acids is comparatively increased without the extreme temperatures that eliminate quality humics from the compost.
  • CompoStar (L) materials help even out the starting time and running temperature for better weed and pathogen control.
  • Mineralizing organic compounds of phosphorus available to the plant.

Usage Instructions

Use at the rate of 100-150ml/metric ton per ton of organic wastes to be composted. Mix CompoStar (L) with water at 1:15. Do not mix with any chemicals and avoid chlorinated water.

To eliminate chlorine from water use Biolator at 1:2000 ratio with water, prior to adding CompoStar (L). Let stand for 12 hours.

Starting the Compost

Dilute the activated CompoStar (L) with water to the needed level. Moisture within the pile will need to range between 45% - 65%. Highest decomposition is usually achieved with 55% moisture and 50% air per volume. Approximate mass will be 500 kg per cubic meter. Apply activated CompoStar (L) material uniformly with the organic wastes to be composted. Place the mixed material into piles or windrows in a covered area to protect from rain, with the ground surface well packed and drained. The height of the pile or windrow should be between 150cm - 210cm (5-7ft). Consult your Petrik Distributor for more information regarding turning temperatures and carbon to nitrogen ratios.
